Minnesota clemency law provides several different remedies for removign most of the serious effects of a criminal conviction, including pardon and commutation.
A Minnesota pardon, if granted, sets aside and dismisses a criminal conviction, automatically expunges (“seals”) its records, and also “purges” the person of the record and they are not required to disclose it except in limited circumstances.
A Minnesota commutation, if granted, reduces a sentence for a criminal conviction that the person is currently serving.
